I have a feeling I'll be gradually more familiar with Php in the near future []/testimages/icons/smile.gif[/]. Am I correct in assuming that php has no cron job-like abilities and that's the reason the cron jobs in W3T are still in perl?

Or have they changed to php already and I just haven't been paying attention? []/testimages/icons/laugh.gif[/]

If php users still have to have perl installed for their subscriptions and expirations to work, then some things need to be added to the installation documentation I'm building for Php users.

Thanks for the clarification.

you have to use lynx to load it up, i really don't know the reason, but that is how it is.

So that line goes in your crontab file? (not a linux user)

Do windows who use php have any options that you know of? Windows users use "task scheduler".

You might want to investigate a program called WinCron. It's like the UNIX cron daemon, except for windows. Cool huh?

I'm not sure what it would offer that task scheduler doesn't. The problem is the present cron jobs are written in perl. Windows folk who want or have to use the php version need to have perl installed on their system to run these cron jobs automatically (or at all?).

I'll have to look into it when I get more time. Thanks for the heads up. []/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/]

The main reason the cron scripts are written in PERL is they need to be run from the command line. PHP needs to be installed in CGI mode for this to be possible but not everyone has this option as it's usually just installed as a module.

Well windows php users need to also have perl installed for any cron-like things to happen in W3T currently, am I on the right track? I need to update the docs soon and wanted to get this point straight.

And while we're at it, I assume anyone using php need to have perl installed for cron stuff. ???[]/testimages/icons/crazy.gif[/]
