Screamers is finally up and open for business. Over the course of the next
few weeks, hacks and customizations will be designed, created, and uploaded
to the new server and available for download. I'm going to attempt to keep up
with everyone's efforts to roll their own code so that all may benefit from
each other's work. Everyone is invited to participate!
The icons you see to the upper right will be the main navigation menu, hopefully
it will be easy for you to use. If you keep your mouse over the images a short
description will pop up explaining what's in each category. The short URL is
the following:
http://screamers.wwwthreads.com
That's a good URL to use if you have to pull it from memory, same as the "mother"
site only screamers instead of www. The actual URL for bookmarking is the following:
http://screamers.wwwthreads.com/six-cgi/perl/index.pl
The difference between the two URLs is that the first will simply redirect
you to the second URL anyway.

The above picture is a screenshot of the "Hacks" homepage. As the
graphic above illustrates, there are three columns.
The first column is the "Download" column. This will list all of
the hacks for both perl and php on top of one another. I'm sure in the future
I'll work out a version system for which hack works with which version of w3t,
some systems have already been proposed.
The middle column contains a "newsflash" with a subject line linking
into an article. The newsflash is meant to be a "late & breaking newstory"
of sorts for topics relating to hacking W3T in general. Underneath the newsflash
you'll find the "Hacks News" section. This will hold articles written
with "hacking" in mind. These articles will typically be reviews and
such and will more resemble online magazine articles rather than newspaper headlines,
like the newsflash. An example of what would be in the "news" section
might be a review of the "Script Hack Wizard" software, since it was
designed to ease the task of installing, removing, and creating hacks.
The last column contains "Popular", basically. This column will list
the top 10 downloads for perl and php.
This format will remain true for "Visual Design" and "Development",
the other two main categories listed.
Real briefly, the visual design will contain things such as custom stylesheets,
images and icons sets, and graphics to use with your w3t installation. The Development
section will contain documentation on how to hack w3t for the newbie programmer.
This section will essentially allow someone with little/no knowledge of perl
or php to successfully understand & manipulate how W3T works, how to track
down what it's doing when so you can customize it to your website, as well as
more advanced things like integrate it into some other scripts you may have
on your site (or integrate them with your w3t!).
I hope this turns out to be a successful effort that'll benefit all w3t enthusiasts
from here on out. I'll work hard to keep up with changes and continue to develop
new material (specifically the development docs) as well as post as many custom
hacks, stylesheets, etc. that I can.
This is a new set of boards, separate from the main wwwthreads set of boards.
That means you'll probably have to set up your own username and such just like
before. You're welcome to use the same username and password you have on the
wwwthreads boards, provided that username is available still.
Hope to see everyone there!
