As w3t users we could remove the powered by link on our forum if we chose to and didn't violate the copyright or break the tos. Will we still be able to remove the powered by link when Infopop takes over?
I never removed mine because I wanted people to know what I used and a couple of my users even bought a license. I might start to remove the link in future versions and want to make sure I will still be able to do this.

From talking with Ted any existing license holders will be able to run under the terms of that license. This is part of the existing license that allows you to do this. So, I would say yes but I can't say for sure yet.

Take a look at the InfoPoop license agreement for UBB.

http://www.infopop.com/services_sign-up/services_sign-up-licenseagree.html

The W3T license will probably be similiar.

My thoughts on 'powered by' links are as follows.

I don't like them. I sell ads on my sites. Why should they get a free ad?

On the other hand, I have to have something that tells my visitors what it is, otherwise I get lots of 'what is that' e-mails.

So what I like to do is put a 'credits / about this site' link on all my pages.

I use DreamWeaver and here's why...

My host is pair and here's why...

There I not only explain that its wwwthreads, but I really plug it. The program is great, the community is great, the developer is great and so on.

My license agreement with Rick allows this, my feeling is license agreements bought from InfoPoop will not.

I'm pretty sure I will not be purchasing any upgrades from them. I spend 3 months looking for an upgrade from my current system. I chose wwwhthreads and rejected the InfoPoop nazi's.

Hmm, you know that Americans use the word 'nazi' to refer to any heavy-handed, authoritarian, fascistic type behavior or entity don't you? Since we beat the nazis we're not as sensitive to using this word for that purpose as the people who were the nazis ;-)

sorry, but that's bullshit

if you were really certain about the meaning of the term and what an insult it actually is to call a stranger that, then you wouldn't use it the way you do. this way it just apears to be a lack of general knowledge.

No, I didn't.

But if it is so, i have to say that those people really don't know the meaning of the word....

the rest is said by Marc, i have to agree to him.

No offense meant towards our German friends.

We have our own 'nazi' types here in the states.

We know exactly what the word means. The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language has two definitions, you guys don't seem to know about the second one:

1. A member of the National Socialist German Workers' Party, founded in Germany in 1919 and brought to power in 1933 under Adolf Hitler.

2. often nazi An adherent or advocate of policies characteristic of Nazism; a fascist.

The second use of the term is slang, which means "the non-standard vocabulary of a given culture, consisting typically of arbitrary and often ephemeral coinages and figures of speech characterized by spontaneity and sometimes by raciness". Of course bullshit usually means "talking out of one's ass" (to define a term used in the reply to the post that started this charming digression)...
