I'm in need of a daily process that will "archive" posts older than one week from my database and move them to a separate database or possibly delete them alltogether.

If I move them to a second database, I could possibly write some PHP code that will allow queries to be executed on that database; however, I'm not sure I'm interested in that. []https://www.ubbdev.com/threads/php/images/icons/laugh.gif[/]

I'm more interested in just deleting posts where the last posted on date has exceeded one week or some other period of time.

If anyone can help me out with this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Admin -> Edit or delete a board -> select board -> Change this board -> Set value in: Expire threads after how many days (0 - Never Expire)
(in V5.4.1)

Make sure that you have installed the cron-scripts.

Okay, the question I have on that is, what date is the expiration based on?

Is it based on the original creation date, or is it based on the last posted on date?

I don't want to expire threads that are still active. I only wish to expire threads that have remained inactive for a set period of time.

Ideally it would be nice to move the threads to secondary database which I could then use as a sortof "archive". It wouldn't be hard to modify the search.php file to create an archivesearch.php file which would query the secondary database instead of the primary.

I have the scripts on the server in the /cron directory, but I'm not sure what they are used for. Is that required for the automatic thread expiration?
