I've just installed v5.5.1 and the badwords filter doesn't seem to be working. Having looked at the badwords filer via th4e admin panel, it mentions that this may need to be turned on somewhere, but I cannot find this option.

Does anyone know where I can do this.

TIA,

Bill.

In the config file (under Admin) make sure you've got a word filled in to use as a Censored replacement word. Something like "****" or "<censored>".
This turns the feature on.
Then edit your badwords file.

Hope that helps. []/forum/images/icons/smile.gif[/]

Thanks JoshPet, but we do have the standard [censored] in place. I was hoping it would be something new with the latest version that I hadn't seen...

We had a few problems on the intsall and I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it! Back to the drawing board!!

Hmmm.
I don't know. About the only thing that I can think to check is to make sure that the badwords include file is "readable" by all.

I defer to an expert opinion.

one problem I had previously was carriage returns at the end of the Badwords file would cause the badwords filter to display [censored] on every space between words. other than that bug I think the place to change whether to use the filter is in the Config.inc.php file as mentioned above.
