Or even, a select number of boards... say, when you go to the categories view as your main index, I want the click there to display a postlist format, not the single category listing format.
Thoughts?

that would take a millenium to load on slow modems and be pretty rough on the server to boot.

Actually, consider the alternative when you have 500-1,000 new posts every day, across 30 forums... I want to give users a consolidated listing without sacrificing the organization that's in place now...
Show 25 parent threads/page in collapsed mode... wouldn't take long to load! []/forum/images/icons/wink.gif[/] Even if it does, that's not a concern... 40% of the visitors to the site have high speed access, and those that don't will use what they can.
