it's been awhile since i've had to do any modifications to a ubb...is there a nice tutorial for adding sidebar columns to both the right and left of the forum itself? or does anybody have and quick thoughts about how to do this?

also...i want to add "10 most recent posts" to the index page of the site (which is not part of ubb.threads)...does anybody know of a tutorial for this?

thanks much...jv

You should refer to this link:
https://ubbdev.com/threads/php/...ew=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

It isn't standard in threads, its actually an addon made by Dave, very slick and customizable for your needs. Its a long thread, but lots of good info in it!

does this address adding columns to the sides? i used to think this was an easy thing to do...well, it is with other bbs software...

do i really have to edit ubbthreads.tmpl in order to add side columns to the forum? and also postlist, showflat and everything else?

isn't just as simple as adding information to the header and footer?

a quick tutorial on this issue seems as though it would be highly useful for people...jv

Well I suppose you could edit templates to do some things, but the IIP system works very well, and is totally seperate so you don't have to hack any threads files to make it work.

He was talking about editing the header/footer to add a "sidebar" like we have at ubbdev
