Hmm.. odd that this came out while talk of a public 6.1 beta in the near future. But either way.. cool. I love upgrades

This is a security update release, not so much as a feature upgrade. Highly recommended too.

I noticed it had to do with mostly security issues (not specifically mentioned) and I would update, but that would require a few hours of my time I'm lazy and not getting paid, so I'll take my chances until 6.1, lol *crosses fingers*

Sorry to ask a stupid question but what exactly does Beyond Compare do? I heard of it but never used it...

I just recently discovered it.... but it checks the text files (your modified version vs. the new version) side by side and shows you all the differences.

Then you can move the differences from one file to another.... hence you can easily transfer your mods to the new version...rather than recreate all you had done.

Anyone know of something that works as well on the Mac? Does the full (paid) version of BBEdit do that?

That's what I usually use as well, but it always takes me longer to do things, and my initial plan anyway is to do a fresh install of 6.1 when it is released, and re-add only the mods I need anyway. Since things like the ubbcode and gramelin hack won't be needed and such, I'm just going to do it all at once.

But beyond and compare is a slick program, not sure how I dealt with hacks before it

I answered my own question. BBEdit from www.barebones.com does the same thing on the mac. I was able to compare the two folders... then look at each changed file. Very nice.
The free version doesn't do it... but you can download a demo that will work for 20 or 30 launches.
