The problem is... we aren't the IP Police. There's nothing we can do if he had 30 pirated copies of threads other than send it on to [][email protected][/] . While we appreciate your honesty, we can't do anything... your best bet is to contact IP

Why not just give the guy what he wants?

Threads started out years ago under the GNU/GPL and the last free version 3.5.1 is available online. This is one of the reasons Threads is so good. In addition to scream's excellent work the code includes countless additions made by the community both before and after it was free software.

Also note that the existence of a free version of Threads does not in any way threaten the viability of the commercial version since it is quite old, lacking many features, and totally unsupported.

I'm aware of that. The GPL version of Threads is also copyrighted and bears copyright notices, it just has a rather unrestrictive license.

As good as v 3.5.1 of threads probably was, I am sure there are other gpl forum scripts out there the guy can have if he'd just visit their website.

I get these kinds of emails/pm's weekly, I just delete them as I can't be bothered trying to trap someone when the scripts are freely available on so many warez sites. They're all eejits and loozers, I don't have the time to waste on them
