We have a user that cannot post on any ubbthreads boards. I figured I'd post his question here for some tips that he can try;

I frequent a ubbthreads-powered board, and can do everything on it except originate posts or reply to posts. The board's admin doesn't seem able to be of much help.

I can post to forums via email, and when I log in to the board later, I can successfully edit those posts I made via email.

I can send and receive private messages.

Cookies are enabled.

I have a D-Link DI-701 Residential Gateway for my home network. If I bypass it and connect to DSL directly, I can post. I do not use any software firewall.

What is it about the "addpost.php" function that prevents me from accessing it from behind my hardware firewall? Is it trying to access a port that my router has closed? If so, what might it be? From behind the firewall, when I click "Continue" to submit a post, the hourglass (PC) or spinning beachball (Mac) just stay there indefinitely, as though my browser were waiting for a "Go-ahead" signal from the board.

Sorry this is so long. It's frustrating. Can you offer any help, please?

This isn't a "check referrer" issue? The users that I've had with the check referrer problems have been able to send PM's, but not post. Since he can post using his direct DSL line, but not while running the firewall, my money goes to referrer. I have a testboard that there isn't anyone on, I could turn referrer checking off and see if that allows him to post.

It was a referrer checking problem. He was able to post as soon as I turned it off.
