Every so often, when I return to ThreadsDev I am no longer logged in.
I do have 'remember me' checked.
I see no pattern, seems like it happens about once a week, but don't quote me on that.

OK - alot of my users complained of this. They would be logged in and remembered at www.mysite.com.But then they would revisit to simply mysite.com (without the www) and you are not logged in. Then they would clikc a link.... like to login.... and the config file then routes them to www.mysite.com (with the www) and thus up comes their my home page. Don't know if that's similar to what you've experienced. But I think to those cookies... there is a difference with and without the www. If I come back here to simply ubbdev.com I am logged out. I must come back to www.ubbdev.comDon't know if that helped any... hope it did. Something to try anyway. I had to tell all my usrs to update their bookmarks.

I get this here at threadsdev every two weeks or so too. What is the expiration on the cookies set to here?

About 2 weeks Not sure if it was set to that for a reason here or not, so I'll let Allen change it if not.

Just an idea... lol kinda neat, maybe not... How about having a short expire time, such as 2 or 3 days or how ever long configured, but as the person browses keep updating the cookie's expiration time to be how ever long so that if the user is visiting ever couple of days they are always logged in but if they should laps for more than 3 days the cookie expires? /me continues on with what ever it was he was doing before...

A problem with re-setting cookies is that it can be annoying if you have your browser or other application set up to warn you about cookies.
In a script I wrote, I used the following technique:
Cookies were set with relatively short expiration dates, about 45 days. Each cookie's value included a timestamp representing the "set-time". Each time a cookie was read, if its set-time was more than 30 days ago, the cookie would be re-set.
I also reduced the number of cookies required by storing several values within each cookie. Most web applications don't bother doing this.

I have found that most of the applications I have used that I could set to "warn" me of cookies being set also allowed me to add various sites/domains as "trusted" or "allowed" so that the warnings were no longer generated. A person would have to be insane to browse the net with such warnings enabled... cookies are everywhere man... just like Elvis... LoL hmmm cept for Micheal J Fox, he probably has cookies in him at times but from what I'm told he's got no Elvis in him... LOLOL ok coffee is getting to me...
