I would have loved to let the users that get banned, have access to a own forum were they could post question and feedback when they are banned, maybe somebody have used their accound, maybe they are banned my misstake and so on, would be nice to let them give us some kind of feedback without creating new account to tell us...
I kind of want them out of the USERS group and into a special group when bannet, that gives them access to a PRISON forum. Even when done manually I have to unban them as well, to let them post in the PRISON forum, which also is not good, as they then can PM etc...
A simply manual solution would still require to let them see this special forum and post there when bannet, but guess all this will mean a lot of changes?

The easiest thing to do would be to set up the "prison" forum so that Admins/Mods and a new user group called "Banned" has access to it. Then, instead of banning that user.... simply remove them from all usergroups except for "banned" group. That should accomplish the same thing.

I agree with Josh. We have a "time-out" group set up that takes away access to post in any forum (they still have read access to most forums, but not all). They don't have access to PM or post. This is what we do with people who we feel need some time to "cool off". We pull them out of all the groups they are currently in (including users) and stick them in the time-out group for a few days. We haven't had the need for a forum like you've mentioned, but I actually think that's a great idea. You'd just set up a new forum with read/write access to admin., mods, and your banned group. Just make sure you don't truly ban them, or they won't be able to post. Just create another group called "suspended" or something.
