I am running

UBB.threads™ 6.1b2
but also ran
UBB.threads™ 6.0 br2

Users were using BOTH versions at the same time for several weeks!!!!

I suppose (not sure) I ran the altertable already.

The following problem showed up!

if we register a new user in version 6.0 it basically does not exist in 6.1. Or if we change a password!

Maybe we have MANY users in this situation, and I want to deactivate the 6.0 beta version.

PLEASE tell me what to do. I suppose I have to run a part of the altertable routine again. But only part of it because it probably will not run, and most changes have already been made.

Maybe we have to remove the index and then put it back again? Please have the kindness to suggest the mysql code necessary to fix this situation!!!!!

I very strongly hope that no custom modification script will be necessary!!!!

Please help urgently!!!

In version 6.1 there is a new U_Approved flag that needs to be set. Users that register under 6.0 do not have that flag set. You can set everyone to approved status with the following mysql query:

UPDATE w3t_Users SET U_Approved='yes'

Mario,

I tried to login but I didn't have the password for this account, hence the login failed.

Is it possible that the user deleted his/her password (blank one) which causes this failure?

Maybe if you edit that user's profile and put a password in (say 12345) and try again, does the same thing happen?

I am just throwing ideas now... might worth the try...

Warm regards

Nikos

OH, all people who have problems registered during the time when I already had upgraded the database to 6.1 but most were still using the board version 6.0

I have a hunch that I would have to run the database actualization routine again, but only partially .......

I wonder if that also has to do with some upgrading or database inconsistency

this is an email by an admin who finally manages to re-construct an error that occurs to several of our users.

Hi Mario,

I just tried to login with one of my old fake nic's. I can login ok, but when I try to post the software notices that I have logged on before using a different nic and then gives me the error message:
We cannot proceed.
The host you are trying to send the input from is not a valid host.

Please use your back button to return to the previous page.

This has to do with cookies right?

Now I know why people are complaining about not being able to post after being logged in. The username I used was from the old database years ago. I changed the pw because I had forgotten it. But it would not let me post. Funny it lets me login but not post.

Any ideas?

Ron

here is my reply

please give the url you are using. Also verify if this is happening again, I disabled the referrer check.

Also I took out the ip blocks. Maybe it is solved. what was your ip number? was it on the blocking list???
