To edit the menu bar.. you would edit he ubbt_registerednav.tmpl and ubbt_unregisterednav.tmpl files.
I have a chatroom (remotely hosted) from chat-forum.com. I think it's around $20/month. I've managed to integrate it into a threads page, and use the thread username when they enter chat.
you add your path to your chat php file to the above template files Joshpet meantioned.
| <a href = "$phpurl/chat/chat.php">Chat Room</a>
Here is a sample chat.php file
I created a directory under ubbthreads called chat. I unzipped jpilot there. I then created the chat.php file which pulls the header and footer pages and creates the chat room. I have attached the file just edit the paths and chat variables to suit you. Also rename the file from chat.txt to chat.php and place in the same directory as Jpilot.
The jIRC applet is not database dependant. There is no ability to connect to mysql from the applet. Also, any names used may not be available on the server and will be changed randomly to allow connection.
I've used phpMyChat before, and really dislike it. But considering it does use a database backend, you could most likely have it integrate with the UBB.threads database. Although I don't think anyone has done it yet.
I tried this and it says: Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /home/pmh1061/public_html/ubbthreads/chat/chat.php on line 4
Fatal error: Failed opening required '/ubbthreads/main.inc.php' (include_path='.:/php/includes:/usr/share/php') in /home/pmh1061/public_html/ubbthreads/chat/chat.php on line 4 * Changed the require path to "/home/pmh1061/public_html/ubbthreads/main.inc.php" and it opens now, but wont connect to any servers (keeps trying and trying different ones) =(

Great info guys. I decided to go with a upgraded chat from raidersoft. Going to try and use the hack for that software. I have the free one but don't have controls to moderate when it gets out of control. I will have to go check out one of thes irc chats to see if it matches up with features if this upgrade sucks.
The only trouble with IRC CHannels is moderations. Threads are nice because you don't have to baby sit them 24/7 and at least have the swearfilter, etc. If you have an irc channel, there really needs to be someone there 'baby sitting' at all times, to keep everyone from misbehaving or flooding etc. Also, since it's on an irc network, anyone on the network could just waltz into your channel...I'de like a place to chat, but IRC just really doesn't seem to be the answer, unless you have alot of support to help run the channel...I actually started on IRC, was an IRCop/Server Admin....actually ran servers and stuff...and MAN..IRC users can be REALLY dumb...then you get all the dumb people that try to kill your server or someone's channel, oe even another user just for the FUN of it...okay enough ranting now
Just bumping this up to see what is the best chat option at this time, one that integrates well and uses the same user database as threads so people do not have to register again and can not pose as someone else.
