Just got my new forum and don't want to start hacking away yet.

I set the following in Edit Theme Settings.
Allow users to add a picture to their profile: YES
Show user's profile pictures in their posts: NO

Pictures still appear in posts. Is this a bug or am I missing something.
I can turn the post picture option off in my personal settings but I thought the Theme setting is global overide.

Thanks

If I recall correctly, the theme setting "Show user's profile pictures in their posts" is merely the default for new users. Changing the theme setting has no effect on existing users' individual settings.

If you wanted to change another user's settings, you could "become" the user and change his settings. If you wanted to change all the users' settings at once, you could use a MySQL query.

Dave's Right.

Existing users must turn off pictures in the Display Preferences of "My Home".

You might wish to post this document to help them learn how to customize the look of the site for themselves.

I can live with using the Theme setting as a default. However I have granted guests read access on the forums so is there anyway of disabling the show pictures in posts for guests only.

Alternatively how would I remove pictures in posts for all users permanently but leave pictures in profiles enabled.

The theme settings should control what users who aren't logged in will see.

From my setting in the themes guests shouldnt be able to see pics in posts. However when I visit as a guest (on a computer never been there before) then pics are still visible. Perhaps the users setting overide the theme on a guest level as well. Ideally I would like the theme to overide users.

Wellll.........

What I am saying is the way that it should behave I believe. Theme settings should apply to users who aren't logged in.

However... this seems to be a bug.

Lemme post this for Rick to see and see if my thinking is correct.

I did some testing and think it's a bug.

You can follow it here and see if Rick posts a fix for it.
