Is there any way to get rid of that little tag down at the bottom of the page that typicaly says something like "There are 3 registered and 0 anonymous users online. "

??

As it is, people can go into "whos online", and see only those who are not invisible. If everyone who is online, has chosen invisible, they will not see anybody. But they can go to the bottom of most of the other pages, and see that there are actualy people online. This has caused some confusion, and we have decided that it would be best to just get rid of that one line.

You can remove that by editing the related templates. For ubbthreads.php you would edit ubbthreads.tmpl and remove this:

<br />
{$ubbt_lang['C_ONLINE']} $r {$ubbt_lang['C_ONLINE2']} $a {$ubbt_lang['C_ONLINE3']}

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much Dave.

That seems to have worked for one page. Any idea of a list of all the files I need to do that to, to be sure than all the pages are fixed ?

Off hand no. I do know that it's in categories.tmpl also for the categories.php script. I cant think of any others. But, perhaps a global search in your templates directory to find them all would work.

Thank you, Dave.

Global search in templates directory. Another thing to figure out.

Hey, is there a secret decoder ring I can get for this forum ?

I use dreamweaver myself to do search and replace. Others around here use Ultra Edit I believe. I'm not sure if that supports search and replace on a directory level or not. Probably does though.

I use grep. A copy came with my C++ compiler.

Doesn't the Windows Find function also let you search for text within files?

Actually I do believe it does. Never use it though.

Thanks Daves...

I think I'll be able to figure it out from here.

You can use the normal Window Find feature. Just right mouse click on the folder you want and click Search. Type in the "Contains Text" box what you want to be found and you are there.

Warm regards

Well, that turned out to be much simpler than I expected. Thanks everyone.

Ok, so I found all two instances of that line in any files in the templates directory, and it's sub-directories.

That has gotten rid of the line on the main index page, (categories), and the forum page/s.

The next step is the page inside the forum where the list of threads are. Then the page when you're inside a thread. (And then, of course, any other pages where it might appear.)

Unfortunately, as I said, I found only two instances of that line in ALL of the templates.
So, my new question is... Is there another, different, line ? IOW: should I be looking for a line that does not say the same as the one presented already ???

In postlist.tmpl, comment out or remove:
code:
$r {$ubbt_lang['C_ONLINE2']} $a {$ubbt_lang['C_ONLINE4']}

In ubbthreads.tmpl, comment out or remove:
code:
{$ubbt_lang['C_ONLINE']} $r {$ubbt_lang['C_ONLINE2']} $a {$ubbt_lang['C_ONLINE3']}
<br />
Maximum Users Online was <strong>$maxOn</strong> on $When
<br /><br />
$edittimelinkstart{$ubbt_lang['OFFSET_TIME']} $edittimelinkstop
$time

In showflat.tmpl, comment out or delete:
code:
$r {$ubbt_lang['C_ONLINE2']} $a {$ubbt_lang['C_ONLINE4']}
<br /><br />

In showthreaded.tmpl, comment out or delete:
code:
$r {$ubbt_lang['C_ONLINE2']} $a {$ubbt_lang['C_ONLINE4']}
<br /><br />

I think those are the only places it's in?

Thank you very much Lisa !

Right now we are having a major huge windstorm. Part of a roof just blew away.

I'll try this when The storm is over. I don't want to be in the middel of a transfer or something, and have the power go out. Leaving the forum stranded until I get power/phone back.

I'll come back here and report when I have done the fix.

Ok, it calmed down enough. Besides, I was over-eager to try this.

It worked !!

If it doesn't work in some other browser, or on a threaded page, etc, I still don't know about it. But I can't find that line on any of the pages that I can see.

Thank you once again.
