I just wanted to drop a friendly reminder that those looking for help should post their questions and problems to the boards. Singling out a particular moderator/admin/developer and sending emails and private messages is unfair to them in that they also have their own sites and work to do plus help out here in their spare time. Questions and problems posted to a board will most often be answered sooner and having input from more than one person is always a good thing. There may be more than one solution and you can then chose what's best for you.

The main reasons I can see for someone to request help on the private level is that either they know the moderator/admin/develper, have hired the moderator/admin/develper or the moderator/admin/developer has contacted them privately.

Thanks Dave. I missed this while I was on vacation, but it's worth a bump.

In a perfect world, I'd love to just help everybody. But between all I do here, at Infopop, Beta Development, my own site, not to mention the Day Job it's very hard to keep up.

And then I feel bad if someone's written to me and I didn't have time to answer.

I do have a hard enough time keeping up with PMs and Emails from people who have hired or paid me. So those folks have to have top priority.

But I read all the forums here and at infopop that I can post semi-intelligently about, and whenever I know the answer or have a theory on anything, I'll post it.

The other advantage to posting questions publicly, is that other people (who may have similar issues) can see it, and not have to ask again.

We all donate our time here, and share ideas. But it's more productive if we pool our resources. It's a waste of time for me to troubleshoot one site while Dave troubleshoots another site with the same issue.

He he... unless you wanna pay us. Then we're happy to provide personal attention.

Just my 2 cents on this subject.

I totally agree with this. Most of you guys spend loads of time here and in Infopop and come up with great stuff to make our forums more user friendly and with loads of features.

If it is a small query chances are that a post in this forum will get your answer quicker than sending a private message to someone.

If though the modification requires significant time, then why not pay for it?

Warm regards

I fully agree! I run a forum that deals with free network and computer tech support. Nothing wastes my time like someone PMing or emailing a question that they could just as easily post out in the public...

Josh: Ignor the question I emailed you (I broke my own rule )

Josh...

I understand and more importantly I thank you for all the help here...

I'm sure a donation to your favorite coder wouldn't hurt

LOL

Thank you. Yes, I don't think any mod contributors here would turn down a paypal donation. It might just make their day.

I'd always be happy to hear someone who had expressed their appreciation.
