Hi, I am hoping to move my discussion boards to a new server, and for those of you who have seen my post in the past know that I am not as technical sound as most of you. In any case, I looked on infopop's site, and I found one page of documentation (which I don't totally understand) on moving from one server to another server. My question is this, does someone want to help me or give me some pointers because I'm scared! If not please point me into the direction of more documentation than that. And does anyone have a copy of version 6.1.1, I will need that for the move, since I don't see that on the infopop site either. Beverly

We can't distribute Infopop's software so even if a user had 6.1.1 they shouldn't send it to you. You will need to create a backup of your current database and transfer it to the new server and load it into mysql. Then install the current version of .threads and proceed to upgrade the database with the related alter table scripts. Then it's a matter of configureing your settings and opening the forum back up.

Like Dave said nobody here is allowed to distribute Infopop software. What you might find useful, if you need 6.1.1 is to email Infopop and they might be able to send you a copy.
If you need additional help while moving servers, feel free to either post here for instructions or you can PM me and I will try my best to help.
Warm regards
Nikos

Beverly, You obviously have members access at Infopop since you know 6.1.1 is not posted any longer. This would be a good time for you to upgrade to 6.2 while you are moving. It will take no additional time relatively and you will have the latest version. If you want to stick with 6.1.1 I see no reason why you need another copy. Simply telnet or ftp to your current site and backup your site to your computer and then FTP OR telnet it to the new server. Install your database on the new server like Dave said and your good to go.

Yes, if you have access to the members area, I think the infopoppers can get you a zip of the older version. But I agree... upgrade while you move. Save down time later. 6.2 is so much improved over 6.1.1 and adds a ton of features.
