I'd like to have one of my forums setup to purge messages every 30 days. Does anyone know if this also purges attachments?

I used to. It should still do it. But it's something I don't use... lol
Anyone else?

I was thinking the same thing... only the board was set to purge every 60 days, and now I have an image folder with hundreds of images dating all the way back to 2001??

Dave posted a utility for getting rid of orphans... I used it.... it worked well for me and got rid of thousands of orphan files. I'll try and find it for you. Might need to be updated.

6.2 doexpire.php and doexpire.pl both contain code to delete the attachments. I don't recall if it's actually been tested, but that would be easy enough to do with a test forum.
It's possible that earlier versions didn't delete the attachments.

Michael.... and Mike, Check out this thread. The script JustDave worked up worked great for me. I had used threads for my photo forums before getting Photopost. It was an older version of threads. We reposted all pics to photopost... and when I deleted the threads forums... a couple of permission errors went by, and the forums were gone, but all the files remained, intermingled with other files. I had like 3600 orphan files. Hope this helps.

I made a change to the doexpire.php script to remove only posts with attachments (and their attachments) after the expiration date. (just added a B_File !="" to the query).
Basically I have a picture posting forum that people are uploading images to and because of the volume of posts (and uploads), I wanted to purge attachments after 30 days.
Tested and seems to work (using 6.1.1).
