Many of you, like me, are just becoming aware of how much devastation has hit the New Orleans area and will be continuing over the next 3-6 months. Please donate if you can to disaster relief and pray for them, thank you.

I talked to my friend Erik from New Orleans (Nawlins), all he had to say was "I gots no home"... Trying to lighten the mood I cracked a bad joke "Well, at least you have that pool you always wanted"

It's great to see the companies, like the one I work for, on the ball on this one with donations, as was done with the Tsunami in Asia.
Here at the Internet Help desk, that entire area overall does not work(Baton Rouge, La. seems to be mostly ok, though) and have been loaded with outage calls. Thankfully, most people are understanding...the truth is; the technicians down there are people too(*gasp*) and they had too have to care of themselves and families first and foremost. Truthbetold we are OVERWHELMED, we were never prepared for something like this! Overtime left and right. Slowly but surely, things are being taken care of, unfortunately we just don't know when service will be restored.
It's just, from my stand point, if other companies are anything like that, then I can see and understand the sluggish progress in those areas. It's not easy.
Currently, I am without Cable TV, because simply I just don't watch it enough to need it. So like Allen, I didn't know the seriousness of it until I read "Evacuation" and "Chaos". Knowing the media, it's probably has some exaggerations, but seeing the pictures of it, looks like it's not far from the truth.
I see all over the news that, that it seems to be focusing on the negative side which really theres hardly any positives except the fact that in situations like this, it brings out the best in people.
Hopes and Thoughts are with them.

Thank you everyone for your donations and prayer. I've got distant relatives who lived there - I've been out of town myself until just now and will need to check on them.

General Honore has the line of the day (possibly the line of the year), and the Political Teen has video: “ You are stuck on stupid. ” Hurricane Rita is headed mostly this way, right now we plan to stay put unless it takes a little northward jag in the next day or so. As it is, we'll be on the eastward side of it and will get a good bit of wind and rain. Right now it has moved into cat5 status with a little more than 2 days to go. We'll decide by tomorrow afternoon if we pan to stay or go
