I'm getting reports that the following error message is displayed when someone tries to register for my boards.
"The query failed! Make sure that the database is running and that the query is valid for the given database."
Does anyone know what is causing this?

That is a pretty generic message but seems the user information is not being inserted into the user table. Have you done any hacking on your board lately? Altered the adduser.php script? newuser.php?
The simplest thing to do before looking to other causes would be if you have not modified those files is to upload new copies of them to the server and try and register a user.

Just to update so nobody else attempts to solve this. I got this solved. I worked on Eugene's site. His adduser.php script inserts data into a second database as well. One of the field names in that second database had been changed... so it was trowing an error on the query. Adjusted the query to match the new field name and it's solved. Thanks.
