Now when I run the importer for converting over to threads, is it gonna mess up my current classic UBB? Like say the members folder etc etc?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by members folder, but I converted my site over to Threads from Classic back in January and it went off without a hitch. All of the posts, threads, forums, categories, and members transferred.

What I mean is, I have UBB Classic installed. Now I wanna test out ubb.threads. If I transfer and import all my stuff over to threads ( members, grahpics etc ) using those PHP scripts that come bundled with threads, will it mess up my current UBB classic info.

For instance, lets say I imported the members from classic to threads, if i decide to stick with CLASSIC, will the members be 0? or messed up?

No, it will not mess up your Classic install. All it does is reads the information from Classic, and writes it to Threads. It does not modify your Classic files in any way whatsoever.

What we did, and what most people do is to choose a new directory for your forums, convert the data over as a trial run - you can then mess around configuring threads up, altering templates etc. Invite a few select users, to try it, and once you are happy re-convert the forums again.

This way you will have a threads version, with actual data that you can play around in, before making it live.
Your classic version always remains intact - which means that once you move it, don't forget to leave it closed, or remove it, otherwise you will have two forums running
