fooling around with v6.2.1

In flat view, each individual message's header is hot-linked to a URL for that message. Unfortunately, it's buggy. If you click (or copy/paste the URL into another window), you're shown a posting one or two positions above the posting whose header you clicked.

This is a disaster...people won't be able to bookmark, link, refer, etc, to individual messages if they grab their URL's (as they often likely will) while in flat view.

I see that in this forum, the headers are NOT hot-linked in flat view, only in threaded view. That'd help.

Is that a config for 6.2.1, or do we need to upgrade to 6.2.3 for this?

I think the link you are refering to is the reply link, and it points to the post that was replied to.

Ok, I think I see what's going on. In the implementation on this board here, there are two "re: Title" texts per message in flat view: one to identify the message (not hot linked) and one smaller one that's hotlinked to parent. Logical.

in our implementation (again, 6.2.1), there is only one, a big subject title that's hot linked. So it's really unintuitive that clicking on what's apparently the subject title is gonna bring you to the parent.

Question: is this a 6.2.1 vs 6.2.3 thing, or is there a hack running on this board? Or is this something we may have screwed up in tweaking the software?

The [Re: Someone] is a modification but will be standard again in 6.3 when it's released.

To add thie mod look for "Reply to Who" in the beta modifications forum.

thanks very much, dave. this strikes me as extremely vital, we'll implement the hack fer sure. HOpe it works with 6.2.1; our pro bono programmers are exhausted, and we won't be upgrading any time soon!
