UBBDEV Members: As we continue to grow and expand, each of our staff members' responsibilities will change to adapt to the new environments we now face. Therefore, I want to post this updated reminder about asking for help at UBB Developers Network. As you can probably imagine, maintaining some 2000 users can be a very daunting task. This in itself is a full time job. While Allen, Deb, and I will still be around to answer posts and help out as much as possible, we need to really concentrate our efforts on making sure this site runs as smoothly as possible. Therefore, we would like to ask that you try to direct all of your questions to our moderators who are more than qualified to answer them for you (some of them are even more qualified than we are). Granted, there will be times that you may need one of us, and we'll do everything we can to help you when that situation arises. Speaking of our moderators, many of them have jobs and/or school outside of UBB Developers Network which, in many cases, must come first. Please respect their privacy by not choosing to ICQ them with your questions initially. Below is a checklist for obtaining help at UBB Developers Network. If we all do our best to try and follow this checklist, everyone's life will be that much easier.
[*] Post your question in the appropriate forum. If you need further assistance ...
[*] Email / ICQ the moderator(s) of the forum in which you posted your question. Please allow for a minimum of 48 hours when you request individual assistance from a moderator. If you need further assistance ...
[*] Email / ICQ Allen, Deb, or myself and we will try and help you in the best way possible. Please allow for a minimum of 72 hours when you request individual assistance from an administrator.
Keep in mind, the entire staff at UBB Developers Network is committed to ensuring that your time spent here is as enjoyable and rewarding as possible. However, to accomplish this, we need the understanding and patience of all of our members. Thanks for your time, and I hope to see all of you online. Digital Boy

Thanks DB... One more thing to remember. Very few of the modifications here are "brand new", which means someone (probably lots of someones) have already asked your question, more than once. Do a search on a few keywords related to your question, more than likely you will find the answer before you even have to ask. This is especially useful if you are in a hurry to find an answer.... I realize our database still doesn't have every modification made for a ubb, but there are >60 in there. If you can't find one there, ask, and I will add it to the database... if you don't know which category it may be in there, try the search feature, more than likely you'll find it. And Colosus, I still accept flowers... ------------------ Allen - http://www.stand318.com

You know, I'm not the only developer here. In fact, I'm at work right now. I won't start developing mods again until version 6 comes out. Until then, I'm working on a search engine for my corporate site (yes, I hate it with a passion.)

No! Get to work on my Sig Preview! ;-) I am scared for when 6 comes out. Gonna have to redo everything all over again and right now it is taking me weeks just to get things going. :-) ------------------ ColosusT2P Administrator www.tribes2players.com

ROFL! Who's dissing who? I am just not the greatest programmer in the world and am having a tough time with some hacks. Worried about 6 because the thoughts are, everything is going to have be rewritten. Might make it easier, might make it harder. Nobody knows yet. ------------------ ColosusT2P Administrator www.tribes2players.com

Really? I always thought it was called a "challenge". *shrug* I am new at this. And I would never challenge anyone here. I am a newb that has really gained an interest. ------------------ ColosusT2P Administrator www.tribes2players.com

In all honesty, I don't think it will take you more than a month. Many of the mods that you've worked on will most likely be included.

True... Anyone else get the feeling this thread lost its meaning? ;-) I am looking forward to seeing the new features of UBB and who knows. By the time 6 comes out, I could have a total grasp of Perl. LOL. Maybe not. ------------------ ColosusT2P Administrator www.tribes2players.com

UBBDEV Members: While we are just kidding around, there's nothing funny about fire safety. Nearly 4,000 Americans are killed from home fires and an additional 15,000 - 20,000 people are injured in home fires each year ( http://www.mesquitenv.com/fire/facts.html ). The bottom line is, while you're at UBB Developers Network, we want you to have a fun time and a safe time. Please observe the following fire safety rules:
[*]Please do not start fires in our forums, even for recreational purposes.
[*]Please observe our "No Smoking" signs in those designated forums.
Thank You - DB

Colosus,
I think the two of us need to be careful. When we get started, we fill up a thread fast. Damn, teamwork! What a concept!

Lucia,
I'm glad you think so. Colosus and I have this "thing" where we end up turning any particular thread into a "Fireside Chat" ... I don't know why, but it just happens. I'd actually be interested in talk with Colosus live ... I bet he's one hell of a conversationalist.
Of course, there's no reason we can't make it a trio, right Colosus?

hmm, I think you guys need to lay off the marshmallows though.. you're starting to look like them.. Wouldn't it be awful if someone mistook you for a huge marshmallow toasting in front of the fire and ate you instead?

Lucia -
It's funny you should mention that. I'm currently on a diet, working out 6 days a week. Today, I REALLY DID want to make it to Wendy's ... only I somehow ended up at the salad bar again.

Well, good for you. Wendy's is a vile and evil place. The Gomorrah of modern times.. hehe

Try their Grilled Chicken salad.. it's pretty good, and you get the psychological satisfaction of having food that comes in a bag that says Wendy's on the side..
