I have been thinking of doing the "facelift" from Dalantech in hopes of getting a cleaner look (but without "wrappers") and maybe some better colors...does that come with it, or is that completely separate?

But my main need is a better post/reply form, which this seems to be. It doesn't have all the graemlins showing at the top. and the entry box allows almost twice as much space. I'm hoping this is part of the package! Is it?

(For our purposes we could do with even more space, since people may be posting one or two PAGE items, but they would likely do that in a word processor and then paste...)

The tablewrappers modification is different than the Facelift from DLT. Both can coexist happily together or you can choose not to install the tablewrappers - like here in ThreadsDev.

The post/reply screen has been redesigned and you can just change the height of the textbox for the body of your post in the relevant templates to enlarge the screen. Since the rest of the controls are below this text box they will be pushed downwards.

Yes the Facelift comes with the graemlins popup panel and shows only a handful of those at a time.

And it's got nothing to do with the color scheme... color schemes are separate in the stylesheets (CSS). All the color themes you see here are available for download as well in the CSS forum. But Dalantech's templates will work with your own stylesheets/colors.

We are not using the tablewrappers here.

OK...I've installed "facelift" on a test board, and have looked into the newpost template, where there is some code seeming to specify the text area with a number of different items.

I don't have any idea where they are located...can someone point me in the right direction and/or tell me if I'm on the right track???

Not sure what exactly you are asking?

sorry...specifically, the text box on YOUR post form is about twice as high as the 6.3 template, or that from the facelift...

When I inquired about this in the first post in this topic, dimopoulos responded:

So my question is: how do you change the height of the text box?

Each user adjusts the size of their text area box in their preferences.

Under My Home -> Display Preferences - you can specify rows and cols to use.

That's a standard feature of threads. We probably just have our default here larger than you have yours.

oops! Thanks for pointing that out. I'm afraid I hadn't realized what those settings were in the user profile box, so I hadn't altered them.

That's useful for those who have registered and KNOW to make that change. However, for simplicity, we are planning intially to run our new board without requiring registration, so it would be helpful if we could set the default to an optimal size for the kind of discussions we will be supporting.

I've looked around some more in the configuration screen and still havn't found a place set up to do that. Is there one? If not, then can you suggest where in some file I can change the default?

Then in the theme file - under admin. Those settings apply to anonymous users and new users.

Check Theme Settings.

Check under theme above the varibles box and the time format.
"Default Textarea columns" and " Default Textarea rows".
