The first beta of PHP5 has been released. See the ChangeLog for what is new. You can download it here. Among the numerous news is a new scripting engine (Zend Engine 2), a new and improved object model (although mostly backwards compatible), completely rewritten xml support and an included light weight database called SQLite.
