I need help... what does this mean?

SQL ERROR: Thu, Jul 10 2003 01:30:42 +0000 Unable to do_query: SELECT DISTINCT Cat_Title,Cat_Number,Cat_Description FROM w3t_Category WHERE Cat_Type = 'forum' ORDER BY Cat_Number
Can't create/write to file '/var/tmp/#sql564b_50_1.MYI' (Errcode: 2)

I have been running 6.2.3 for 2 months without a problem...

This afternoon I started getting this error everytime I try going into "Main Index"... Everything else works...

What could cause this? No changes have been made to anything... How do I go about fixing it?

can't create or write to file... check to be sure your /var partition isn't full.

Yeah, beyond that, you could try this SQL Query.

Jeremy & Josh,

Thanks for the feed back!

I tried repairing the table, no help...

Not sure about the "full partition" thing, I will have to contact my web host...

One curious thing I have discovered though... I do not have the problem if I have all of my forums in the "General Discussion" category... But when I add an additional category I get the same error... without even moving a forum into the new category... don't know if this is a "clue" or not...

I have even deleted and recreated the category table... same problem...

Any ideas?

There may be more advanced corruption in the Category table. There are some more advaanced repair options that your host could try running from the command line.

Thanks again Josh!

The problem has now disappeared as mysteriously as it appeared to begin with...

Although they deny any knowledge of it, I think the problem was with my web host somewhere... Like they would admit to it...

My web host always tells me whats going on. Sometimes it is an upgrade they did, sometimes it is a datacenter issue. I've had about 3 minor problems, all fixed within a couple of hours. Imediate response. Honesty and imediate response earns big bonus points with me.
