This is only "kind of" Threads-related, in that it has to do with staying logged-in to my Threads site. It has me baffled.

Occasionally when someone posts a link, or someone includes their "home page" in their profile, when I click it then return to Threads, I find myself logged-out of Threads.

Sometimes it DOESN'T happen though!

It has also happened when I've been logged-in HERE at Threadsdev.com, so it's not specific to my installation.

What could cause that to happen, especially when it's only "sometimes"?! It is HUGELY annoying and hugely weird.

Are you using your domain with and without the www interchangably?

For example you can be logged in at www.ubbdev.com go somewhere else - then retrurn to ubbdev.com (without the www) and not be logged in. Cookies are different with and without the www.

Good thoughts but no, I'm not really "leaving" ubbdev.com -- the links open in a new window, so it's when I simply carry on with my forum-ing... like the next time I click a link in the menubar I find myself logged-out. If I'm not mistaken, it even happened once when I spell-checked a post using the spell-checker hack on my site.

It might be browser-related. Does it happen with different browsers? Do you have an unusually large number of cookies stored?

Good thoughts again.....

I'll try another browser for a while and see if that makes a difference.

Obviously it's not a widespread problem or one of you two would have heard of it before, so I'll have to try to narrow it down more on my end.

Thanks

Beyond that - I'd check your date and time of your computer's clock.

That's a good point.

You might want to install my Browser Check addon. It automatically checks that and other things that can cause login problems.

Installing it here could be a good idea too.

I did the Browser Check cha-cha and it checked out, passing everything and the clocks agree within 3 seconds.

Cool utility!
