This next year at school, I got a job at the yearbook, being their DVD technician and website guru. They give me the content, and I create/publish the DVD and website that will go along with our printed yearbook. The DVD stuff I'll be learning as the year progresses. But I'm supposed to start working on writing a content engine for the website now, so that it's up and ready to go as soon as school starts.
Our school has one big Linux/Apache server that they like using - however, its content engine is very very limited in what it can handle. So my teacher/boss told me we're probably going to be serving the yearbook site directly from one of the the Mac OSX boxes in the yearbook office.
So, does anyone have any experience with php/mysql/servers and OSX? Are there any major differences between Windows/Linux and OSX as far as php and server capabilities go? Since OSX is basically just glorified BSD, I can't imagine there will be any big show-stopper differences, but I'm just curious. Also, does anyone happen to know of any tutorials for installing servers/php/mysql on OSX?
Thanks much.
