I run an official website for a celebrity with a really unusual name. She posts on the message board using her real name, and that makes a great target for troublemakers who want to register a similar name to impersonate her. We also get the occasional registration that uses the celebrity's name in a really rude way, despite the fact that the board rules say that her name is restricted from use.

Is there a way I could automatically restrict/prevent new users from choosing a name that contains a specific sequence of 4 or 5 letters? Right now I have to manually go through the userlist once a week, find the offending names, and change them manually, and it's a pain in the butt.

I tried to do a search for this topic in the forums, but it was hard to decide how to describe the issue. Hope I didn't miss a place where this concept was already covered.

In your adduser.php file, just after this:

// No special characters




add this:

if (stristr($Displayname,"4or5lettersHere")) {
$html -> not_right($ubbt_lang['BAD_UNAME'],$Cat);
}



Just replace the 4or5lettersHere with your 4 or 5 letters.

Coy - I can impliment this when we do 6.3.1 - on my adjenda for early this week.
