So I am thinking a project through.

I am using an excellent open source online ed program.
I hate its forums...

From inside the ed program one can link to any external site

I know I can link to only certain categories and forums in Threads so

it would be simple to have the forums for each class appear based on clicking a link to that classes categories.

or even make links to a certain board for answerig assignment questions.


If student sin any "class" were in a group by that classes name...that would make it so others did not have access to the class which is good.

so what else would I need to make threads works with this?

So I guess all I would need is

A. a way to either

--have any students assigned to certain threads group automatically enrolled in the Moodle group

OR
--have Classes from the Class Script ..autmaticlaly have access to threads as embers of a particular group.

B: Some way within the Class Script to

a. minimally---easily set up links to appropriate forum in threads

b. better-call that forum and embed it into a Class website page

c.best--ability to add administer threads and set that all up with in The Class program


How hard would this be?

A.

Solution one wouldn't require that much changes to the code. But you'll have to create new groups in your class programm and in threads. You will also provide the information which class should be automatically assigned to which group.

B.

a. would be possibly if you have a configuration files that maps which class has access to which forum or group

b and c would require more work, but this depends also on your class program
