Is there a way to make current threads and hot threads and the hot threads all reference the date of the actual replies and NOT the original post formation date?

This is really a big peeve of mine and my moderator and I have been tinkering with it to no avail over the last 3 weeks.

Can anyone help me? I have version 6.3.2 and I am running IIP 5.3.1.

I thank any of you now for help on this matter.

What are you exactly trying to do?

You mean you want the pals to take you to the last reply and not just the thread.

Yeah I think that's what he's getting at Omega.

It seems he wants to basically be taken to the most recent post in a thread when he clicks either a HOT Topic Or Current Topic link on the Entrance Page (as opposed to being taken to the initial post in the thread which is what occurs by default).

Hmm, I dunno if that's even possible with the way the threads work, because aren't all replies based upon the initial one? But maybe it is do-able, I'm really not quite sure.

Hey Stop taking tites into account

Now in all seriousness the IIP pals you are talking about are rather straight forward and not too complex.

The current threads pal just simply grabs the posts based on the date.

The hottopic pal does the same based on the variables set for what the predetermining factor for making it so.

To be able to do what this gentleman wants they need to be rewritten using several code changes. One of which is the lastpost function which is part of threads.

Threads whenever you click a post takes you to the main thread. The only instance of going to the lastpost is when you click the last post on the forum index. One can see it is formatted differently.

If there was something I could post like one line to change things I would. This is something that would require a more indepth look into by someone.

I looked a bit into it but am unfamiliar with the exact instances needed to convert it. There needs to be alot of changes made.

I looked at it myself and basically came to the same conclusion. I was aware of the lastpost function, but wasn't able to get it to work correctly after trying a couple different approaches. Some serious knowledge is req'd there.

Well the problem is not so much trying to hack something in as it is to completely rewrite the pal boxes.

The pal boxes themselves as one can see are rather simplistic. A simple query and format the url string and thats it.

I would ALSO suggest using the More Boxes Mod and just copy all the stuff from those Pals into an empty one.. I think I am up to 400 custom Pals now

Whats that on your beta site

As your regular site has very little pals. I am glad you liked that. I have to think of more ideas on pals to use all I have.

I can wrap Hamweather into a page with the help of the generic page but I wanted to put it into a pal and yeah on my screen on my beta site I have about 200 or so showing.. on the release site they didn't want that many and in fact I had to skimp on the ones I use there.. damn users

Here is the post where this is discussed in brief.

I had talked with Photopost once about it and he explained it to me.

As it stands, the Currents threads and hot topic's look at the ORIGINAL creation date of the post, not the reply date I guess.
For instance, if I made a topics 4 months ago that fro some reason became interesting again adn people posted to it, it would not matter to current threads as it is old.

I want it to count the date of the REPLY not the date of creation. Can anyone help me?

Photopost had said he would PM it to me or post it on the site and he got busy I guess and I dont want to bother him again about it.

ST,

Michael adjusted the query to display it a bit different. From what you want above this is not it. You want to link the lastpost from the list and this needs a complete rewrite not a query adjustment.

OK... I will try this one more time I think... HAHHAHA..

IN the IIP there is a box called "Current threads." When someone makes a new thread it displays in Current threads and it will stay there as long as people post to it but only for about 10 days(?) I think, even when people keep posting to it.

I would like to keep the current threads and hot topics for that matter, watching the threads and displaying them when they are STILL active. That is, if the thread was made 3 months ago and people are posting to it, it would be nice to have it displayed at "current threads."

Is there a way to mod this?
