Mod Name / Version: Search Engine Optimization Mod for 6.3 & 6.4 - ver 1.0
Description: This modification changes the URL format of the URLs leading to your posts to a more search engine friendly format. It removes the ? & and = signs from the URLs (which search engines typically penalize for) and replaces them with slashes, which makes the variables look like directory names.
We've been using it here at ThreadsDev since September and at last check had 70,000-80,000 listings in Google (up from 300 and something in early September).
You can download instructions or purchase includes free initial installation. Purchase includes 1 year access to member area forum for updates and enhancements.

I will vouch for this mod, I went from almost no listings in google and other search engines to well over 1500 (and counting) in a very short time. They are constantly picking up new information from my site and often times I will find info from a new post within two days in a search engine.
As you can imagine, especially if you are selling something, this is invaluable advertising. I also went from getting one or two registered users a day to getting between 10 and 12, I couldn't be happier with it.
I will vouch for this one as well. I have been using it for a few months since it was released many to staff here and Josh's clients. I can say without a doubt my small hobby dedicated site went from around 700 pages to I just checked it and it was at 8580 pages. Now this is only google. For some reason I know here at ThreadsDev Josh talks about google and I know they dont have much links in like AlltheWeb.
Now I have like 23000 in alltheweb.com Threadsdev only has like 2500 pages there so it depends I guess on what search places visit and hit you but the mod works very well.
I forgot where someone posted a link to check position etc but I know last time I checked I had went up so all is good.
I must post again, with more good news and high praise for this modification.
It's been less than two weeks since Josh installed it on my sites. I think I'll be able to report better statistics after a full month, but so far it's pretty amazing:
The forum has only 17,500 posts, and started with about 75 pages indexed by Google two weeks ago. Today, it has 4,200+ indexed.
December, 2003 (30 days) 130 page hits from Google (4.2 per day) 354 from all search engines 202 different search phrases
January, 2004 to date (5 days reported) 871 page hits from Google ([:"red"]174.2 per day[/], 4150% increase) 1380 from all search engines 1070 different search phrases
It's almost ridiculous to think of what the one-month comparison will look like.
This is without a doubt the best traffic-generating investment I have ever made.
it works, plain and simple... when I installed something similar on my .classic site my forums had more growth in the next 3-4 months than the last year+.
Would you say that this pushes the rank of a page up or is it rather bad? I would think it´s rather good because it presents google more content(more pages) than there actually are.
You sure it is worth $75 for only one version? (according to navaho it is included in 6.5 basecode)... and you sure members area access will help after 6.5 is out?

I was curious about that also, I wonder if links created by this mod will be broken when the new version comes out and the threads code takes over.
yeah, but I think Josh's mod also allows for it to spider other things, such as Reviewpost, and other database listings....of course, I've been wrong before.

No - it's my stuff that was included in 6.5. So it's the same idea, all links will work just the same under any version.
Yes, this is essentially the same thing. 6.5 will probably be quite a while since it's still in development and given the extensive changes, it'll probably kick around a while in public BETA too. If you want to wait, you can wait. But the longer you wait.... every day on the net is equal to 7 days in the real world. But if traffic is important to you, if it's your livelyhood, then it's all about beating your competition in ranking.
If you run a hobby site and it's not important to you, then you might as well wait.
I also don't think what is included in 6.5 will be as extensive as this. So subscribers will get enhancements for their 6.5 version as well. Once 6.5 is public, I'll be posting these enhancements to the member area there.
This makes the URLs in thereads search engine friendly so that the spiders can follow it. The search engines will index anything that an anonymous user can see.
I have posted an additional "Bonus" modification at ThreadsAddons.com for subscribers to the Search Engine Optimization Mod. It is called "Forum Header Inserts" and allows you to create header inserts (and thus forum specific META tags) for each forum.
It's free for existing subscribers of the Search Engine Optimization Mod - supplied as a "bonus". It's available for download in the Search Engine Optimization Mod Members Area at www.threadsaddons.com
