I guess that's what I get for trying to be neat and tidy. So, I've switched form Classic to Threads...pretty painlessly. Added some "mods" from this site...opened my threads up to new & old users....everyone diggin' it. Decided to try and clean up some "inactive user" from 6 months ago.... And ended up deleting most of my top RECENT posters and countless others! I don't know if the last logged in dates where screwed up or what..... I went in and re-registered my top poster and set his user id back to his old one....but all his posts (800+) show Anonymous as the poster.... What do I do? Infopop.com is down... I feel so lost and helpless and by searching throughout these forums, it looks like I'm the only idiot who has done this! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me this can be fixed without having to reinstall everything... Thanks, Patrice UBBThreads-> Cymbalholic.com

Bad news: You can't restore the data without an backup of the ubb.threads database. So you'll have to clear the database and run the importer again.
Good news: You don't need to reinstall all the mods, because only the data in the database got wrong.

Thanks Astaran. I was afraid of that.
Will this effect my Photopost forum?
I have had a handful of new post that I'd like to keep. I'll probably go in after I re-import my forums and hand add them and my new users. If someone knows of an easier way to do this, please let me know.
It would be nice if Admin had a "Create New User" feature like Classic. <sigh> Another long night.
Thanks again, Patrice

This should not effect your Photopost forums unless you drop your Photopost database They are separate from Threads.

But if photopost is using the Threads DB... the user numbers might not line up.

That's what I was afraid of. But I have been really the only one to upload stuff. So I'm not too worried about that. I'm more concerned about how I'm going to 1) Keep the new data posted. 2) Keep the new users. 3) Impliment them to the re-imported forums before I go live again. They are going to KILL ME! -Patrice

Yeah, my servers do an automatic backup nightly, to a second drive. I keep a monthly, weekly and daily set of backups for the whole hosting account. Then, just for good measure. I use phpMybackup with a cron job to automatically backup and FTP the database to another server nightly.

Ok....you don't have to rub it in! The classic -> threads forums had only been up for 2 days...so it's not much lost/replace....just enough to keep me up all night tonight. and T-off a few posters. Patrice

Yeah, not trying to rub it in. I really feel for you and I believe we've all been there one time or another. Good luck.

The same thing happened to me not long after I converted from Classic to Threads. For some odd reason Threads doesn't see your Classic users as having logged in recently unless they authenticate to the Threads database. My guess is that there is a table that holds the last data that someone was online, and that table does not get updated during the conversion process form Classic to Threads.
It might be a good idea for Info Pop to add a warning to the installation for users who are converting from Classic to Threads...

You can always re-do the import from ubb.classic. You'll lose the stuff from there currently, but at least you'll retrieve all the old stuff/posts/etc.

Been with threads for couple years now. Is it safe for me to delete the inactive users. Looks like it should be after this long.

[/] I think my problem was I had JUST transferred over from Classic and when I went to delete inactive users it kinked up the system. I did have a "mild heart attack" LOL I'm sure that after about a year, I MIGHT try to delete inactive users. After I backup everything...twice. Thanks, Patrice

Yes, it only takes 1...or 2 catastrophic failures to learn the creed of backup, backup, backup again.
There's nothing worse than thinking you have a current backup when you really don't.
