so im pretty much a newbie to all of this mysql stuff. i've had the ubbthreads 6.3.2 running okay for a few months now, but lately i've had mysql errors. the board also runs slow mainly because the mysql processes were overloading the vps i am on. it was slowing http processes as well as the board itself. i decided to go w/ a dedicated server:

FreeBSD 4.7 UNIX O/S
Intel Xeon 2.4 GHz
512 MB RAM

i went in to the new dedicated server and upgraded mysql to 4.0.17 from 3.23.56. the hosting company transfered my 'ubbthreads' database from the old server over to the new server. it showed up when i was running mysql 3.23.56. now when i log-in to phpmyadmin it shows the right mysql version 4.0.17, but obviously no databases.

i guess my question is how to get my 'ubbthreads' db in the right format and ready to go using mysql 4.0.17? i would like to take the db right off of the old server because it is the most recent copy. will this db work the same with the newer version of mysql (hopefully better) or do i need to tweak it in any way?

Yes, MySQL is forwards-compatible. Just copy the /data/database_name folder over, or restore a backup; whichever you have access to
