Does anyone happen to know why php includes work fine in the Generic Header but just get printed out as text in the Generic Footer? Is there any way around this that you might know of? Thanks

I don't know, but have you tried using php open and close tags.
<?php

they shouldn't work in the includes at all - typically you need to put these in the ubbt_header.tmpl and ubbt_footer.tmpl file.
