Picture this...

Baseball teams across the league play nine innings.
The database entry for these nine innings looks like:
Code
Team....Date...On...Tw...Th...Fo...Fi...Si...Se...Ei...Ni...Tot
Alpha...0602...00...02...00...00...00...01...00...01...03...
Bravo...0602...03...01...00...01...00...00...00...02...00...
Charlie.0602...00...00...00...02...00...03...01...00...01...
Bravo...0603...02...00...02...00...01...01...02...00...00...
Assuming I cannot calculate the total upon score entry, how would I pull each team that played on 0602, add the scores from innings one through nine, and write each team's sum to their respective Total field.

Here is the code I have came up with, but does not work.

Code
$query = "
SELECT Team,On,Tw,Th,Fo,Fi,Si,Se,Ei,Ni
FROM base_ball
WHERE date='$date'
";
$sth = $dbh -> do_query($query);
$total = $dbh -> total_rows($sth);

for($i=0;$i<$total;$i++){

list ($team,$one,$two,$three,$four,$five,$six,$seven,$eight,$nine) = $dbh -> fetch_array($sth);

$scorescolumn[$i]['team'] = $team;
$scorescolumn[$i]['one'] = $one;
$scorescolumn[$i]['two'] = $two;
$scorescolumn[$i]['three'] = $three;
$scorescolumn[$i]['four'] = $four;
$scorescolumn[$i]['five'] = $five;
$scorescolumn[$i]['six'] = $six;
$scorescolumn[$i]['seven'] = $seven;
$scorescolumn[$i]['eight'] = $eight;
$scorescolumn[$i]['nine'] = $nine;
$scorescolumn[$i]['score'] = $scorescolumn[$i]['one']+$scorescolumn[$i]['two']+$scorescolumn[$i]['three']+$scorescolumn[$i]['four']+$scorescolumn[$i]['five']+$scorescolumn[$i]['six']+$scorescolumn[$i]['seven']+$scorescolumn[$i]['eight']+$scorescolumn[$i]['nine'];

$dbh -> finish_sth($sth);
}

for($i=0;$i<$total;$i++){

$query = "
UPDATE base_ball
SET Tot='{$scorescolumn[$i]['score']}'
WHERE Date='$date'
AND Team='{$scorescolumn[$i]['team']}'
";
$dbh -> do_query($query);
}
Nevermind, I am going by a different approach.
