Hi,

im trying to set up a MYSQL-Cluster with 3 Servers. (1 Management Server with one Node and the 2 others are hosting the other Nodes[instances]). Does someone has expierience in configuring the Server, the my.cnf, config.cnf and/or Ndb.cfg ? I´ve searched now for like 3 days the Net for some useful Information about configuring the Cluster+it´s nodes but i cant find a HOWTO, which fits my needs. So if someone has set up a MYSQL-Cluster under Linux yet and tink he can help me, pls let me know. I am using mysql-4.1.3-beta-nightly-20040628 btw.

Thx, RattleS

PS: yes i´ve read the tutorial on mysql.com

MySQL-Cluster is brand new and because of the hardware requirements, not very widespreed. I haven't seen any tutorial about it apart from this one at mysql.com (which you already read, I suppose):
http://dev.hosting.stage.mysql.com/tech-resources/articles/mysql-cluster-for-mysql-users.html

If you can't get it to work with the admin guide, best would be to ask at the mysql cluster mailing list.

Yeh i know that it is brand new, but we want to run it on 3 Dual Xeon 3.6 GHZ with 4GB RAM because our Database is really a bit large ( 111584 Users; 614450 Postings [www.pcwelt.de] ), and of course the Availability and Scalability. The Link to the Tutorial u´ve posted i´ve already read more than once =)
But thx for the tip with the mailing list, i will try that.
All others feel free to post me some links, im happy about every help.

Thx, RattleS

Mhh, have you thought of using a mysql replication instead of a mysql cluster?
The number of postings and users isn't that high, so you should be able to get a good result with your three servers. Or have you tried that already and weren't satisfied with the results?

The MySQL cluster holds all data in memory, so that you need a lot of RAM.
The recommendation is to have memory 2x the size of your database size + 10%.

Well, the thing is, we want to implement other (similar largre) Databases too after a successful testing of the cluster. Replication of DB´s isnt really a solution for us, we tried that before. In a cluster u can add Machines or nodes whenever you want, for example if the load is getting too high, or the usercount.
Memory isnt a big role too, 4GB RAM per Machine is ok and can be upgraded to 8GB everytime.

Greetings, RattleS

Yes, a cluster is easier to maintain. Can be horrible with large replications some time, especially when they're getting out of sync.
I'd be happy if you could post your test results here. I haven't setup a cluster environment yet, but plan to do so. I'm curious about the new storage engine and it's performance.

So long,

RattleS
