Hi, I managed to remove the option of having a Display Name with my old version of threads and I was just wondering if there is an easy way I can do this with 6.5b4? I couldn't find anything by searching this forum so......

Control Panel->Feature settings, the fourth one down is "Allow Display Name Changes?"

Thanks but I actually want to get rid of it completely so that the Login Name is the only thing they get to choose when they sign up

Well then, you will probally have to hack it out of the newuser template. And the profile templates. I'm not sure of the code, but if you search your local threads foleder for files containing the text "Display name" that will probally pull up some language files. Then you can search for the varibles associated with that text and comment out those lines wherever they appear.

Yeah, I think if you remove it from the signup template - if the display name is blank - it fills in the login name.
