well for one thing
/var/www/vmfweb/public_forums/includes/ubbt.inc.php
shouldn;t be in includes this is in the main
/var/www/vmfweb/public_forums/ubbt.inc.php directory

It's not... I was poking around and just changed the path in the main.inc.php file in the includes to try to see what was going... at least then it gave me an error... but now it's back to the way it was, and it's still hanging forever...
I'll probably end up just backing everything back to 6.4.2; sounds like I must have screwed something up running the upgrade...

Try setting up a clean install in a different dir. With a clean db. If all goes fine, then try connecting to your live db.
