Hello. I was wondering, is there any way that i can have users be able to switch beween languages without going to their profile. LIke for example, put a link on the top menu in index, with english and spanish, so then, they can just click on a language and the site will switch languages right away... any way to do that? thanks!
Unfortunately no solution I think that's because there's only a few people who need such mod, since most forums are all in just one language. Mine isn't.....
Actually there are a few mods out there that allow dynamic switching of stylesheets, this should easily be the same thing. We are only changing ONE variable in a User Profile.
Well, I looked and the only thing I had was a Custom Pal box that allowed members to select a language from a drop-down box and hit submit, and it popped them right back out to the main page.
Yap, works in 6.4 and 6.5, but this is an IIP Pal Box. This does not do what Pasqual wants, which is to change the default language for the entire site without being logged in.
I seem to recall such a mod many moons ago - had some flags for the languages - maybe it was linked to IIP, or perhaps it was something else, but I think it used to exist.
Aye Ian, I have the mod bookmarked, but it does not work properly. The only place I could find actually using it stated that due to some big changes in 6.5, it would not work in it's current capacity (ie cookie changes), and would need to be changed.
Will link that, and Cro - will upload the little thing that I had (it is at work).
Here is what I had for a PAL BOX solution, it is nothing special.
It could probably be upgraded to grab your current page, update the language using a "languageupdate.php" page, and then redirect you back to the page you were on. You could then use this potentially in the menubar up top, or similar areas.
A few notes - there are THREE variables you have to fill in up top. The custompalbox you are going to place this in (the file calls itself), the title, and your PATH to main.inc.php. Again note, if you are using this for 6.5, you need to update that path to allow the includes folder!

[/] That mod was cool. I remember that - anonymous users could click the flag, and when you registered, that became the default language.
It probably won't be need much now, until someone posts some language packs.
