what program do you use to edit the .tmpl or can i just use wordpad?

I've had issues in the past with wordpad leaving behind formatting characters. I use notepad or Ultra Edit.

Either Texturizer or Zend Development Studio. Both are bought with the latter more expensive than the former.

Check out your admin section with your hosters. Mine lets me edit .tmpl file from file manager in there.

I use PFE (Programmers File Editor) as it creates a backup/restorable copy or I use the built in feature of 6.5 if I feel brave
