Hi,

We have recently added a paid subscription group (thanks JoshPet for creating the MyPaymentPal, works great!) and are now trying to come up with some additional features to make it more interesting for members to upgrade.

So far we have (for paying members):
- added the PhotoPost gallery
- added the change User Title hack
- added an archive of all posts older than 1 year

Just searched through the list of hacks for UBBT 6.4 and found some that might be interesting assuming they can be restricted to allow only certain user groups to use them.

The My Photos looks especially promising, but I do not want regular members the option of posting pictures.
I did also find Allow Dynamic Images from Known Referer and was wondering if I would combine these would that mean that only those pictures coming from my domain could be posted?

Another feature I have been looking at is allowing only paying members to add images/urls in their sigfiles. The Restrict signatures looks like it will help, but this does not restrict images per usergroup as far as I am aware.

So, I guess I am asking if it possible to do the above things (i.e. restrict them to specific usergroups), and if people have other suggestions of other features I might offer to my paying members.

Already considering FlashChat and ReviewPost, but would not mind additional options.

Without even looking at how the Restrict Signatures works, you could modify it to allow most users 'certain' length or variables, and users in 'X' Group more variables and longer length.

So you could use that one as well.

another suggestion would be email for paying members.
Right now we have *very* few supporter, so we do it by hand, but we thought about switching to postfix mysql, so we could just read out the passwords and copy it to the postfix application.

my question:
how have you handled the archive?
we don't want to delete messages, but our database is getting slower and slower. is there a handy way to export everything which is older than one year to a different table?

Hi,

"another suggestion would be email for paying members."

We have considered this, and even looked into some email clients (esp. HiveMail), but my partner was a bit worried about the impact on the server. I do not really know much about this but from what I gather HiveMail uses a different protocol than the one he wanted to use (and which was less streneous on the server).

"how have you handled the archive?"

We just manually move posts to a seperate category (which contains a bunch of different forums) once every month or so.
This category is read-only and only accessible by paying members.
