I have to profess a little ignorance here of whether or not this is doable by default in 6.5 or not, because I'm waiting (still) for a final 6.5.1 release before beginning the upgrade work from 6.4.

I know that in 6.5, Admin and Moderator name colors are stylesheet-dependent. Is there a (relatively easy) way to set up another "class" so that certain select individuals, that aren't differentiated by the forum from normal users in any other way (no special/additional user group membership, etc.), have their names displayed in a distinct color?

Such as (examples made up here) Admins are red, Moderators are green, special users are purple, and normal users are a sort of pale blue - per that particular stylesheet, but on another stylesheet, it may be a different set of 4 colors.

Hi,

My first thought is, how will the program know which usernames to apply the class to?
There needs to be some kind of way to differentiate between these and normal users.

That was one of the mental stumbling blocks I had as well.

Ok, presuming that's not doable, if I were to make a new user group that existed for no purpose other than to distinguish such "special" users, could I then get them to have a special name color that was stylesheet defined?

Can someone point me to the code in .threads 6.5.1 that processes the name colors for Admins and Moderators (so I can see how it sets precedence for Admin color over Moderator color if someone belongs to both groups)?

Hi,

"could I then get them to have a special name color that was stylesheet defined?"

I would imagine so. Not running 6.5.x though so afraid I can't help you with code.
