We have one user who has several hundred posts and all of a sudden the content of everyone is simply .
They weren't edited, there is nothing in the admin log about the user or any admin deleting this user's posts. Nothing on our board changed and the user's name is simple text (no special chars), no name changes allowed.
I is baffled. I appreciate any advice.

FYI, there isn't anything in our error log indicating any problems either (last entry was almost a month ago, this problem is more recent).

What version are you using and is the badwords filter enabled?

Are you viewing the posts directly, or through a search link (like show all posts by a user). If the name has special characters in it, and you "show all user's posts" the body can get dorked up, or be missing. Verify that the post is really edited by viewing a post directly (without a "highlight" link in the URL.

We are running V6.4.4. We don't have phpMyAdmin on the server. Badwords filter is enabled but hasn't been touched in months (we just have your basic cuss words in the filter). Josh, the problem is there whether we search and view or just regular browsing and reading of threads. I'm almost convinced this user deleted all of his threads - but it turns out he had over 2100 posts, and I can't believe someone would do that. No other users are affected. I tried repairing all relevant tables and no change. Board url is http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/categories.php?Cat= and the username is thief. Thanks for your help with this.

I apologize for wasting your time.
The reader responded to an email today and he did in fact delete all 2,107 of his posts - guess I needed to look at old admin logs.
Unreal.

Well remind me never to allow him to fix my car.. I am not questioing his ability but the second I opened my mouthe I could imagine him ripping out the engine and spitting at it and then deleting it...

lol! He's nowhere near Richmond, don't worry.
BTW I lived in Richmond for 8 yrs, primarily in the Fan and 2 yrs on Hermitage north of Laburnum. Kinda miss the place......
