Interviewed by: Greg "MasterMind" Hard
Members Spotlight, October 2001 -- Clan 3:16

We're going into the mind of UBBDev member, friend and designer, Bookie. We'll find out what makes him tick!

UBBDEV: What is your background and how long have you been on the web?

Clan 3:16: I've been on the web for too long. Nearly 5 years. I originally was a newbie to the web and just played old games like diablo and starcraft,
and slowly worked my way into designing.

UBBDEV: How did you brainstorm the idea behind Clan-316.com?

Clan 3:16: As corny as it is, has greatly affected my life. We were an old Diablo gaming clan about 5 years ago, I never started it but the person who did is gone now. We still have some of the old members. Anyway, one of them purchased the domain, and we had no web designer. I was horrible at it, I knew absolutely no HTML, and was using pain for graphics. I just worked on it (using Netscape Composer) and invested in Jasc Paint Shop Pro. I eventually got better and moved on to bigger better things such as UBB.

UBBDEV: AMD or Intel, which do you prefer?

Clan 3:16: Well, I'm going to have to go with Intel because I've never really used AMD before..

UBBDEV: Which modification, do you feel, is most beneficial to your UBB? In other words, what one modification is an absolute necessity on your UBB?

Clan 3:16: Well, its not an official mod, but perhaps it may be soon, pretty much it is my templates. If you want a great looking UNIQUE forum, you've gotta have great looking templates. If were talking about official mods, everyone seems to enjoy avatars

UBBDEV: What is your favorite coding-time beverage?

Clan 3:16: Water. It's all I can afford right now

UBBDEV: LOL! Choose between Unix or Windows. Which one comes out better?

Clan 3:16: Unix. ALWAYS.

UBBDEV: Are there any "tricks of the trade" you'd like to share that any UBB owner can use to improve the success of their site?

Clan 3:16: Sit at you computer, open up public_forum_summary.pl and stare at it for 2 hours each day. You might just learn something.

UBBDEV: That's interesting advice.
What are your future plans for your site?

Clan 3:16: Well, to be honest, I'm pretty much done with Clan 3:16, I may upgrade to 6.1 but that is all. What I am doing is starting up a new chain
of music sites, and hopefully I can catch another license during the fall sale.
