We've reworked our Modification forum here, and created a new forum for modifications to be posted in.
This forum uses a special form when people submit modifications, and is also designed to work with our Modification Index.

The modification index is something that I created this weekend to help automatically list and search for modifications. There's not too many listed there now, because they need to be reposted in the new forum to show up. But as new modifications get posted, it should be much easier to find all the available modifications for your forums.

If you go to the Modification Index, you can choose the mod type along the top (Beta, Finished or Untested). You can even choose what version of UBB.Threads it works with and even enter in a keyword.

If you have posted mods here in the past, why not take a moment to verify that it works with the lastest version of threads and repost? It'll make our "library" so much more complete.

Hows about seperate column for versions and "Status"

ooh i just got another idea....

could you Please modify your table structure (add one) where you "Threadsdev" can keep track of mods that users download and install.

For example:

Say I download Quick Reply mod. and install it on my site. Perhaps a table where I can record the date and which site I am using this mod on. - Have this tied to my user account. And also the author's account.
Thus when a new mod is released a discrete PM can be sent to the users of this mod that there is a new mod released.

At the very least it will give kudos to all the hackers and mod developers whom is all using their mods. (kind of a good pat on the back) you get to see a list of all peope you affect. (in a good way)

A Win-win scenerio. - My reasons are this sometimes weeks will go by before I decide to hack my site. I have to rummage through all threads. (all though the index is STELLAR!!) find the ones I have installed and reapply them, if they are updated.

Also allow for sorting. Because some times the order in wich you install some mods makes a difference

That would be the perfect system... but to simplify modifications here and our ability to upgrade... it's just using the post table. So that is the subject of the post.

We could have created a separate table etc.... to store the modifications, then use the info in various ways easier... but then it'd be a bit of a pain to upgrade here.

We have limited time to spend here. This was a quick way to use the exisiting post structure and search it easier.

Got to make a living.... and unfortunately nobody pays me (or anyone here) for time spent to threadsdev. So a good bit of the weekend was all I could really afford to "donate" time wise right now without too many other things getting backed up.

But if you are volunteering to write that... that would be great. Would sure make keeping up with installed mods easier for me as well.

I've seen something like that somewhere, can't remember where right now, but it's a little outside the scope of what we're doing right now... quite possibly in the future tho. This one is perfect for what we need now, def much betta than what we've had

Very impressive my friend, well done!

OK - I did make some improvements to the Modification Index.

Tried to clean the layout up a bit.

I fixed a bug that was messing up the "next page" links from working right.

I also added some sort links - you can now:
- Sort by date (both most recently submitted, and most recently modified) - should make keeping up with new hacks and changes easier.
- Sort by most popular (most downloads)
- Sort by highest rated.

Also added a link so you could easily rate from there. If we all take a moment to rate the mods we like, it will help others find the best/most liked mods.

So many people have asked. I think I'm going to put together my files and a brief note and post them.

I added a Pal box to our Entrance Page here (bottom right) which shows the 10 most recently submitted modifications.
