Just curious.  What are the advantages and disadvantages for using cookie or session?  Which setting is more secure?

My understanding is that cookies are more convenient, because users don't have to type in their username/password to login. Sessions are more secure, because the username and password are not (automatically) stored on the client's computer.

Thank you Dave_L! One more question.. Will sessions slow down my webserver because it's storing sessions there? Would I require more diskspace too?

Not enough to notice. posted by jerry:

They are tiny. And depending on how long your sessions are set to last in your php.ini they don't stay long.

Now using sessions but having problems. Some users are reporting that they are recieving errors: Username/Password not found...etc. How can this be resolved? Seems like sessions has the same problems as cookie settings too!

If you want help with a problem, you're probably going to have to provide more info: UBB.threads version, URL of your board, exact error messages, maybe a test account that people can use.
Also, the description of this forum is "Talk about anything not threads-related in here." The bugs forum is generally a better place for reporting problems with UBB.threads.
