It feels like I was the last person in the world to use v5 perl of threads and for a lot of various reasons I haven't updated earlier. There was always something delaying the upgrade, until now.
I HAVE FINALLY INSTALLED v6.1!!
Now wish me luck, I hope there won't be too much problems because of the change from the perl version.
And hopefully I will be able to provide live examples of my hacks soon, and be able to keep up with new releases.

You are still not the last using the perl version. Would be interested in the upgrade process that you went through and how you handled your hacks, etc. Also what sort of member issues came to the surface, etc. from this type of upgrade.

Except for the database I went for a complete install. I closed the old board, copied the database, and ran all the appropriate altertables. This way, I could still go back to the perl version if I needed to. I also copied all uploaded files and made sure all config options were the same. But other than that, it was like a new install, so it was quite painless.
I'll start adding the hacks I want, most of the ones I used before are now integrated in the main distribution so I want have to bother about them.
Also, I made sure the look of the new version was as close as possible to the old one to minimize complaints. Still got heavily flamed for forgetting to turn off censoring, and because I decided to try out the user grading.
There are still some things that should be fixed, like the fact that the button on the old polls looks weird and the old color tags used in the signatures aren't working. I've written a script for fixing all this stuff, but haven't had the time to test it yet.
There are a few who has had problems loggin in as well, but that might have to do with the fact that I changed cookie domain as well. And some of them because the referer check is on and their firewalls are removing the REFERER.

The biggest issue I had when I converted to PHP from Perl was the Polls did not work properly with Older Polls from the Perl version. Other than that the next highest issue were cookies which I think was worked out in a later version of threads.

May look at it again when 6.2 comes out, not in any hurry. What we have works and it is solid. We have hacked it up some, so we would not even consider it until those that would be needed were done. And considering that neither of us know anything about php that could be a little problem.
