haha, ok, well not quite. Was interviewed by a regional newspaper earlier in the week for our site and our big event tomorrow (saturday). He loved the story and is even sending a dedicated photographer out to the event!

So we were on page 4 of the newspaper... here is the online version: http://www.mlive.com/news/fljournal...rd.xsl?/base/news-11/104584266363300.xml

There will be a followup article next week with lots of photos, woohoo! Although he did spell my name wrong

Thanks everyone! Holy cow, this weekend has to have went down in history

First of all, since the pre-event article that was written in the paper, spectators came from all around to see the event. This was not planned. Due to this extra publicity, the county sherrifs were on hand to ensure rules were being followed, nobody was drinking, etc etc. That was not planned. Then the DNR (Department of Natural Resources) showed up, and the park is normally closed this time of year. But we got permission to use it for our event.

Well, they didn't know about all of the media coverage, so they stepped in that afternoon and demanded we pay the 5 dollar entrance fee for every truck, or we would be fined 1000 dollars! This was a fundraising event put on by my site and with help from a local christian club. So, we had to either give them the money out of our donations or ask people for ANOTHER 5 dollars, which we already charged people to get in for food and such.

That sucked, we are meeting with them next week to try and reach a comprimise, as they saw this event as a quick buck when they are normally closed So hopefully we get our money back!

Anyways, it turned out so huge that even local TV stations showed up! I was on the 6 and 11 o'clock news, there was another article in the paper today, and there will be a full 1 page article written on thursday. We were expecting 150 vehicles and 300 people. We ended up with about 202 vehicles and over 500 people! We cooked over 1,000 hot dogs, 50 pounds of hamburger, and many many pots of chili. It was quite an event, and thankfully everything went smoothly.

It was great because for many this was their first time off-roading, and after meeting all of their online friends and having run on the trails, they are hooked on the sport Here are just a few pictures from the day:

The main parking lot, there was another across the street, and people also parked on the trails, there wasn't enough room at all.

This guy rolled 1 and a half times... only major accident of the day.

Ok, I won't bore you with anymore, but the rest can always be found in the photo gallery, more are being uploaded all the time http://www.michiganjeepers.com/photopost

awesome! Glad it went well, except for the money part , but hey, as long as you had a good time.

Now you can look forward to next year, when there'll be about 500 cars

Sweet!! How in the heck did that guy roll his Jeep on level ground? (might be a Jeep thing, I don't understand)
It looks like I can make out 4 K5's in that first pick.

There were a few K5's there, which were awesome. And you can't see the part where the roll started, but it was coming over the crest of a hill, and it banked sharply to the side coming over the crest. Take it at the wrong angle and you're toast.

Myself, I was teetering on 2 wheels, but luckily didn't roll
